Tom Byrne has always wanted to be a lawyer. A bit of a news and politics junkie in high school, he paid attention anything having to do with the law. He took political science in his undergraduate education and then went on to law school at the University of Ottawa, graduating at the top of his class. He articled at the top legal firm, Gowlings, before being called to the Bar in 1993. He then moved on to his first job at a small firm in Winchester, Ontario.
In 2000 he had the opportunity to join the practice of Barrie M. Wilson in Cornwall and bought the practice from him when he retired in 2002. Tom now operates two law offices: his one man show under the name of Wilson Byrne in Cornwall and his practice in Kemptville under his own name, Thomas M. Byrne, Barrister and Solicitor.
A country boy at heart, Tom grew up on a farm just outside Peterborough, Ontario. He always knew he wanted to work in rural Ontario and enjoys the personal touch he is able to offer his clients though his small practice. He understands the priorities of rural people and loves that he is able to help them with their problems. Tom is a general practitioner with experience in real estate, wills, powers of attorney and estates, family law, and civil and criminal litigation.
Tom is involved in his community through his work with the Knights of Columbus and has been a supporter of the Kemptville Youth Centre over the years. A self-proclaimed history buff, Tom spends his spare time with his nose in books and loves learning about local and world history.
